What Does the Raw Food Diet Consist of?

I believe that the raw food diet is extremely tasty and delicious. There are many, many world wide raw food chefs who write excellent 'cook' books that we use. My favorite is Rawvolution by Matt Amsden. It has beautiful photos to accompany the delicious recipes.

The key to life are organic green leafy vegetables. The trick to getting more green leafy vegetables into the diet is to make a green smoothie. As we know it's difficult to eat lots of raw spinach, Kale, or chard each day so we make a blender drink with a large quantity of greens and it is amazing.

My recipe is:

1 banana
any other fruit (apple, blueberries, pineapple, or mango)
stevia (a natural sweetener that reduces appetite
water (one cup)
spinach, kale, or chard (stuff the rest of the blender full)
other flavorings such as cinnamon, cilantro, mint or vanilla

This is my everyday breakfast and Dr. Brian Clements PHd who is the director of the Hippocrates Institute in West Palm Beach Florida (whom I've seen speak on 2 occasions and is one of the largest healing centers in the US using the raw diet) recommends not eating before 11:00am, have a larger meal at lunch and hardly anything for dinner or after. The key to longevity is to not each much food. The body cannot handle large portions of food. The body craves vitamins, minerals and nutrients so many people are constantly eating but are giving there bodies the wrong foods: junk food, toxins and chemicals so the body is always starving and this is why people are obese.

I usually have a large salad at lunch and try not to eat much in the evening as its too difficult for the digestive tract. Sometimes I have lemon water until noon, have a green smoothie that I drink all afternoon and then a salad at dinner. I am 95% raw so my 5% consists of restaurant food usually sushi, soup or a sandwich.

Try this: throw 2 ripe bananas and a ripe avocado in a blender for 1 minute and you have the best banana pudding you've ever tasted with no sugar and it's totally healthy.

Peel bananas and cut them in small pieces and put them in the freezer, put them in the food processor with cinnamon and vanilla for 3 minutes and you have amazing banana ice cream. You can add frozen blueberries, strawberries or mango to make it even better.

In my book I have 16 beautiful and delicious recipes that I eat on a regular basis. I eat sushi, Thai coleslaw, onion bread, chocolate truffles, chocolate cake, cheesecake, guacamole, coconut cream (which is a lot like yogurt), apple cookies, zucchini pasta with marinara sauce, cucumber salad, marinated baby bok choy, pickles, salsa, sauerkraut, raw almond milk, apple crumble etc etc.

We are NOT boring or dumb! Our food is the best tasting food on the planet and has ALL the nutrients that your body needs.

My favorite source for finding new recipes is on YouTube. You just put in raw anything ie. raw almond milk or raw carrot cake or raw cinnamon rolls and there are at least 10 people with awesome videos showing you the entire recipe and how to make it from beginning to end in less than 10 minutes. Water is VERY important. Did you know that tap water has over 350 carcinogins and toxins? I drink ionized water or spring water. You may have to do some research but there is usually a natural spring near any major city.

I know that it's sometimes difficult for men to become vegetarian, vegan or raw and that over 97% of people eat animal based foods but once you understand the benefits of raw foods, their healing powers and how incredible you feel and how much energy you have it can be an easy transition. It's baby steps really, I tell my clients to start out by eating less meat and coffee (coffee plantations use pesticides that have been banned in the US for over 20 years). Then see how you feel. If you didn't keal over (you won't) start ordering salads at lunch, then eat green smoothies for breakfast, start eating fruit as snacks, and then try to downsize dinner meals. The challange is to try it for 30 days and see how you feel or do it gradually. You will start losing weight and many people get back to their highschool weight and strength. Some men lose too much and need to eat some more oil and at least 2 avocados a day.

Vegetarianism is great, being Vegan is great but Raw food HEALS the body. Raw food prevents diseases such as cancer, heart disease, MS, diabetes and most degenerative diseases. A book by an American scientist Dr. Colin Campbell PHd called 'The China Study' cannot legally say he has the cure for cancer (as the FDA states only a drug or medical treatment can be a 'cure' or else we could go to jail) so he 'recommends' a plant based diet compared to an animal based diet based on his study over 24 years and 8000 pieces of statistical data. It's the animal protein that causes degenerative or 'lifestyle choice' diseases and plant based proteins prevents them. Another excellent way of obtaining 'underground', truthfull, real, information regarding health is from the website by Mike Adams. Employee's of pharmacuetical companies, medical studies, researchers, and other related industry workers actually send him the REAL story on nuturitional facts that the government does not want people to know about. I have added Natural News to my Facebook and every second day he sends an important article or video regarding health, our enviornment, the government and other 'cover ups' that are incredibly interesting.

Remember, the best way to start raw is to use the internet, buy some books, use YouTube and speak to other raw foodists.
